México Canta

Mexico Canta is an opera lab produced by VisionIntoArt and Under the Volcano that runs every in January  in Tepoztlán, Mexico. México Canta provides resident artists and students the time and space to create visionary, non-traditional works. Applicants include emerging and experienced writers, playwrights, composers, and performance artists interested in producing collaborative work and building new repertoire in both English and Spanish. The ten-day lab features morning workshops, afternoon time to work on individual & collaborative pieces, informal evening talks on aspects of stagecraft and narrative, and time to explore the village and surroundings. Faculty, drawn from Mexico, the US and Canada  work cross-group on stage ideas and participate in evening talks. Magda Bogin and Paola Prestini are co-directors of the lab.

The México Canta program features unique opportunities:

• Live & work in Tepoztlán, one of Mexico’s official magic villages
• Create your dream project working in a creative team with expert faculty from the US, Canada and Mexico
